STRAY DOG

STRAY DOG AND NAKED CITY

This weeks double bill is a film noir special with two classics from the genre, first up is STRAY DOG Kurosawa’s masterful police thriller set in occupied Tokyo. This clever piece of filmmaking frames the period beautifully while still maintaining the hot sweaty atmosphere of the Tokyo underworld. Second up is Jules Dassin’s NAKED CITY considered the template for pretty all future noir films. Directed by master noir craftsman Jules Dassin it is shot entirely on location in New York in a semi-documentary style, it turns the city into the star a thing of pure beauty a filmmaking master class.
